With the economic repercussions of COVID-19, we suspect the oncoming recession will disproportionately affect women entrepreneurs given a confluence of factors – that they tend to run smaller businesses, are less capitalized, and are concentrated in the services sector. On top of that, managing child care during school closures and elder care while older Canadians are encouraged to self-isolate, will be extremely challenging.
